Raised in the bay area, Dr. Englund learned to love veterinary medicine from a young age. Her first family dog, Nessie, suffered from a fibrovascular event (stroke) resulting in paralysis at the age of five. Veterinary medicine became Dr. Englund’s true calling from combining her passion for the sciences and after witnessing Nessie’s dedicated veterinary team diagnose and return Nessie to health. Dr. Englund earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Biology at UC Davis. Dr. Englund spent another year in Davis after her undergraduate degree performing research and working at a mixed animal clinic and is a recent graduate from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Englund has spent over 14 years in multiple areas of veterinary medicine including research, equine medicine, small animal practice, mixed animal practice, and shelter medicine. Dr. Englund also worked for El Camino Veterinary Hospital in between the third and fourth year of veterinary school and is excited about returning to the practice to provide care as a veterinarian. Dr. Englund enjoys many aspects of veterinary medicine and has a special interest in behavior, nutrition, and internal medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Englund enjoys being the cool aunt to her two young nephews and spending time with her two older sisters, parents, and pets. Since the age of 14, Dr. Englund has had both a horse named Crunchy and a green cheek conure named Melody. Dr. Englund promised herself she would not adopt any more pets during veterinary school, but failed in that endeavor before veterinary school even started. She adopted a stray kitty during the year between undergrad and veterinary school in need of some TLC and named him Wilson!. She hopes one day to have a farm with chickens, cows, goats, horses, dogs, cats and more, but plans to adopt a dog soon to start. In her spare time Dr. Englund enjoys riding her horse, hiking, and reading.
